OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman and transfer students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant, inclusive community on campus by recruiting students with diverse backgrounds, educational experiences, and involvement.

We're currently looking for a new team member in our Central Texas office to serve as an Admissions Counselor for our National Recruitment Team.

The Admission Counselor position manages new undergraduate student recruiting in Austin, San Antonio and other designated territories, develops and executes recruiting strategies and activities, and participates in admission application review and processing. This person also interprets admission policies and procedures, and responds to all manner of questions regarding admission from prospective students, parents, high school personnel, alumni, OU faculty and staff, colleagues and the public.

**This position is based in Austin and will work from the selected candidates home.**

Job Requirements


Required Education: Bachelor Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:

  • 0-24 months recruitment experience
  • Skills :

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must have exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, and exceptional public speaking skills
  • Must be able to work successfully with a diverse group of students, parents, faculty and staff
  • Must be highly organized; able to work independently, and establish and meet deadlines while working with a high volume of assignments
  • Must value being part of a team and be able to work in partnership with others
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Must have a professional manner and appearance
  • Will meet with prospective students, families, alumni and high school personnel at events that will take place at schools, on campus and other designated locations
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Certifications :

  • Valid driver's license to attend schools and events
  • Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone. Must be able to pull, push, lift, engage in repetitive motions, communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; see, including color, depth perception and clarity; and hear, including receiving detailed information orally.
  • Departmental Preferences:

  • Knowledge of the University of Oklahoma
  • Experience working with high school aged students is preferred
  • Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
