Responsible for preparing OR for surgical procedures maintaining sterility: Assists surgeon with instrumentation; responsible for correct counts at conclusion of surgical procedure (sharps / sponges); cleans instruments; re-stocks OR; prepares delivery tables prior to birth; cleans and restocks patient care equipment (delivery carts, epidural carts, fetal monitors and carts, IV poles, PCA and epidural pumps, etc). Maintains supplies for units, maintains patients carts, processes orders, answers phones and patient call systems and conducts daily QA and data gathering of QI as assigned; communicates admissions, discharges, transfer to appropriate departments. Reviews and enters procedure charges, Assists anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the care of patients before, during and after surgery. Under supervision, provides basic nursing care and ADLs, requests supplies and equipment and places items into storage. Assists with stocking LDR and other areas as required.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSLicensure, Registrations and/or Certifications: Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist (LCCST) preferred or Practical Nurse license (LPN) from the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved American Heart Association training program or CPR for the Professional Rescuer from the American Red Cross. Modified Neonatal Resuscitation Provider is required in first 6 months.Education: High School graduate or equivalent. NA class is preferred.Experience: Previous clerical and patient care experience within a health care facility preferred. No experience required for graduates of an accredited Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program. Required to demonstrate good human relations / communication skills and discretion. Basic and clinical expertise in delivery of patient care and patient care skills. must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the care appropriate to age of the patients served on assigned unit. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status in addition to being able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs.
