The Electrician/ Engineering Technician maintains, repairs and installs electrical systems and provides operations support related to the installation and engineering of various electrical power equipment and fuel systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Airway Systems, Power Systems Group. This position requires the ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, or blueprints.
Assists in the enhancement and/or maintenance of existing power systems at various FAA facilities.
Performs installations as well as locates, diagnoses and resolves issues related to various electrical systems, such as engine generators (EG), Uninterruptible Power Supply(s) (UPS), Static Transfer Switches, electrical distribution equipment, fuel storage tanks (FST), Lightning Protection and Bonding (LPGBS), and associated power system support equipment.
Assists with the demolition and disposal of current power system equipment (i.e., EG, UPS, and electrical distribution equipment, etc.).
Installs and up electrical conduit such as steel rigid metal conduit and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT).
Examines and provides maintenance services for existing powers systems.
Uses a variety of electrician hand tools as well as measuring and testing instruments.
Uses technical manuals, government orders, NEC Code and blueprints to ensure accuracy and completion of work.
Coordinates work with Project Manager, Team Lead and government personnel during projects.
Helps to develop and maintain the overall production schedule for project deliverables.
Ensures all safety requirements are met per FAA and OHSA standards.
Coordinates work assignments with the FAA installation and scheduling requirements for various power systems.
Coordinates and assists Team Lead with power cutovers.
Travels to FAA client sites up to 80% of the time.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisors instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum years electrician experience as specified by level below, or equivalent combination of education / experience. Completion of a recognized and approved formal electrician apprenticeship program and Journeyman Electrician License required.
Electrician/ Engineering Technician I: (High School or GED and one (1) year experience)
Electrician/ Engineering Technician II: (High School or GED and two (2) years experience)
Electrician/ Engineering Technician III: (High School or GED and four (4) years experience)
CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION
Valid State-specific Journeyman Electrician License Preferred
FAA-specific Certification / License preferred but not required

Working knowledge of electrical theory, principles, circuitry and electrical codes
Operational knowledge and understanding of, with ability to read, government technical manuals, technical orders, and modification work orders and blueprints
In depth knowledge of basic electronics principles in the routine and repetitive repair, disassembly, modification, assembly, testing, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and accessories
In depth knowledge of electrical components, wire materials, power supplies and repair techniques
Working knowledge of cutting, threading, bending and installation of various conduits in many different environments
Understanding of power generators, ATS, UPS, switch gear, and power panels wiring
Technical proficiency with troubleshooting / problem-solving skills
Excellent time management skills with ability to receive instructions and accurately complete assignments in a timely manner
Ability to work well with others in various settings (i.e., peers, customers, supervisors, etc.)
Ability to effectively use tools and equipment associated with electrical work (e.g., hand and automatic wire strippers, soldering equipment, wire cutters, heat guns, electric and pneumatic power tools, machinery, etc.)
Ability to follow technical orders, manufacturers specifications and standard trade methods
Ability to implement and follow all safety and emergency procedures
Ability to work as a team member on non-electrical projects, as assigned
Ability to work effectively, both individually and in a team environment
